What it does
- Floors and walls on one job: each area’s length and width or height, less doors, windows, the bath and the shower base.
- A floor tile and a wall tile: each with its own size, grout gap, thickness, pattern and tiles in a box.
- Waste by pattern: 10% for a straight or brick lay, 15% for diagonal and 20% for herringbone, and you can change it.
- Boxes, adhesive and grout: boxes to buy, 20 kg bags of adhesive by trowel size, and grout bags worked out from the joints.
- Ready for the quote: copy the list into a quote, an order or a message, or print it.
How many tiles for 10 m²
| Tile, grout gap | Straight lay (+10%) | Diagonal (+15%) |
|---|---|---|
| 300 × 300 mm, 2 mm | 121 tiles | 127 tiles |
| 450 × 450 mm, 3 mm | 54 tiles | 57 tiles |
| 600 × 600 mm, 3 mm | 31 tiles | 32 tiles |
| 300 × 600 mm, 3 mm | 61 tiles | 63 tiles |
| 600 × 1200 mm, 3 mm | 16 tiles | 16 tiles |
Rounded up to whole tiles. Herringbone needs about 20% extra. Then round up to full boxes.

Common questions
How many tiles do I need for a floor?
Work out the area, add the waste for the pattern, then divide by the area of one tile with its grout gap. A 4 × 3 m floor is 12 m². With 10% for a straight lay it’s 13.2 m², and a 600 × 600 mm tile with a 3 mm gap covers 0.3636 m², so you need 37 tiles, or 10 boxes of 4.
How much extra tile should I allow for waste?
About 10% for a straight or brick lay, 15% for a diagonal lay and 20% for herringbone or chevron, because angled layouts cut more tiles at the edges. Allow more for small rooms, lots of cuts or a tile with a pattern to match, and keep a few spare for repairs.
Do I take doors and windows off the wall area?
Yes. Take off anything you won’t tile: doors, windows, the bath and the shower base. A standard 2.04 × 0.82 m door is about 1.7 m². Leave small openings like power points in; the offcuts cover them.
How much tile adhesive do I need?
About 2.5 kg a m² with a 6 mm notched trowel, 4 kg with a 10 mm trowel and 5 kg with a 12 mm trowel for large tiles. A 12 m² floor with a 12 mm trowel takes about 60 kg, so 3 bags of 20 kg. The bag gives the maker’s coverage.
How much grout do I need?
It depends on the tile size, the gap and the tile’s thickness. Big tiles with thin joints need very little: 12 m² of 600 × 600 tiles, 10 mm thick, with a 3 mm gap takes about 1.9 kg, so one 5 kg bag. Mosaics need far more.
Is anything uploaded?
No. It all runs in your browser, works offline once open, and remembers your last job on your device.
