Each area
- A guide only. Measure on site and check the tile, adhesive and grout makers’ instructions. Waterproofing, falls and substrate prep follow AS 3740 and AS 3958; this calculator doesn’t cover them.
- Tiles are counted from the area with the grout gap, plus the waste for the pattern. Allow more for small rooms, lots of cuts, niches and tiles with a pattern to match, and keep a few spare for repairs.
- Adhesive uses about 2.5, 4 or 5 kg a m² for a 6, 10 or 12 mm notched trowel. Grout is worked out from the tile size, the gap and the tile thickness (the joint depth).
