What you get
- A professional circuit chart for the board door: a title block with the site, customer, date, supply and main switch, a drawing of the board showing each breaker where it sits on the rail, and a circuit schedule with the device, curve, rating, poles, RCD and cable for every circuit. Add your logo, business name, licence number and phone, with a sign-off line at the bottom.
- Colour-coded by RCD: each safety switch gets its own colour on the board drawing, the circuit list and the labels, so anyone can see which breakers each RCD protects. List the circuits in board order or grouped by RCD.
- Breaker labels at real size: one strip per row on the board, 17.5 or 18 mm per pole, so a 2-pole RCD or main switch gets a wider label. Choose the label height to suit your label holder.
- Quick to fill in: quick-add buttons for lights, power, oven, cooktop, hot water, air con, pool, solar and EV chargers, common ratings and cable sizes to pick from, and copy, move and renumber buttons. A new circuit takes the RCD and curve of the one before it.
- Single or three phase: a Phase column with L1, L2 and L3 colours for three-phase boards.
- Dual supply warning: tick a box for solar, battery or generator boards and a yellow warning goes at the top of the chart.
- Quick checks: it flags repeated circuit numbers, missing ratings, more than three circuits on one RCD in a home, all lights on one RCD, lighting or power circuits with no RCD shown, and solar or battery circuits without a dual supply warning.
- An RCD test log for the owner: a table on the chart to write down each 3-monthly test, with plain instructions on how to do it.
- Save and reuse: save the chart as a file, open it again for the next visit, or start a new board with your business details already filled in.
How to make a switchboard chart
- Fill in the board details. Board name, site address, main switch, how many poles fit on each row, and your details. Add your logo once and it stays.
- Add the RCDs. One row for each safety switch that protects a group of circuits, with its rating, trip current and type.
- Add the circuits in board order. Use Quick add or type your own description, then set the breaker, curve, rating, RCD and cable size.
- Read the quick checks. Fix anything that’s missing before you print.
- Print the chart and the labels. Stick the chart inside the board door and the labels above the breakers. Print labels at 100% (Actual size).
Who it’s for
| You are… | Use it to… |
|---|---|
| An electrician | Leave a clean, printed chart after a switchboard upgrade, new build or fault-finding job, instead of handwriting it. |
| An apprentice | Write up the board while you trace circuits, then check it with your supervisor. |
| A property manager or owner | Keep a tidy record of what each breaker does, and when the safety switches were last tested. |
Common questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many charts you make.
Is my information uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything you type stays on your device. The chart is kept in your browser as you go, and you can save it as a file to open and change later.
How do I print the breaker labels at the right size?
In the print window choose 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page. Each label is the width of one breaker (17.5 or 18 mm per pole, you choose), so a 2-pole RCD gets a label twice as wide, and there is one strip for each row on the board. Print one page on plain paper first and hold it against the board.
Can the owner record their RCD tests on it?
Yes. The chart can include an RCD test log: a short table for the date, who tested and whether every safety switch switched off, with plain instructions for the 3-monthly push-button test.
Can I use it for three-phase boards?
Yes. Switch the supply to three phase and a Phase column appears, with L1 red, L2 white and L3 blue on the chart.
Does it check the board against the Wiring Rules?
It points out a few common gaps, such as more than three circuits on one RCD in a home, or a lighting or power circuit with no RCD shown. These are a guide only. They don’t replace AS/NZS 3000, your state’s rules or your own testing.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, you can fill it in on a phone at the board. Printing is easiest from a computer.
