Rooms and walls
Measure each room, or add a single wall (a feature wall, or an outside wall). Everything stays on this device.
Paint, coats and tins
The spread rate is on the tin or the product’s data sheet: how many square metres a litre covers in one coat.

Areas to paint
After taking off doors, windows and anything else. One coat; the paint list allows for the coats.
- A guide only. Real coverage depends on the product, the colour, the surface and how it’s applied. Check the spread rate on the tin or data sheet before ordering.
- New plaster, bare timber, patched walls and rough or porous surfaces soak up more paint. Prime or seal them first. A big colour change or a deep colour may need a third coat.
- Trims count one side of each door, plus skirting and architraves about 100 mm wide. Ceilings are length × width; raked or coffered ceilings need measuring on their own.
- Tins are picked to cost the least at typical trade prices, as bigger tins are cheaper a litre. Untick any size the product doesn’t come in.
